Album Review

The Weakerthans
Reconstruction Site
2003, Epitaph

All hail Canadian emo-folk rockers The Weakerthans for yet another great album. The Weakerthans had a stellar 2003, with lots of touring, and what better way to finish the year than with what I would say is their best album to date. This album has something for everybody, with songs such as ‘The Reasons‘ or ‘Plea For A Cat Named Virtue‘ that will set any indie dance floor ablaze. John Samson and company have also added some extra instruments to the mix, and you can hear some trumpet and a wider range of percussion. Reconstruction Site is yet another masterpiece released by The Weakerthans (the first being 1999‘s Left and Leaving), and whether you need a pick-me-up or just something mellow to listen to while you do that last-minute paper, this album will fulfill all your needs.
