Throwdown
Haymaker
2003, Trustkill

I‘m going to get this off my chest now: I do not like this release. I have followed this band for years now, and lost interest as time has gone on. It‘s been a few years since we last heard from Throwdown, but it just wasn‘t worth the wait, or for that matter the hype. What they had on You Don‘t Have To Be Blood To Be Family was awesome; it was full of straightedge and posi anthems, whereas Haymaker sees the band trying to follow in the footsteps of Hatebreed. The best way to describe this is to think Hatebreed with Freddie Cricien of Madball, and that will give you an idea of what this new Throwdown release sounds like. Musically, it‘s good for hardcore, but it doesn‘t live up to the talent and potential held within Throwdown, and just comes off sounding like most of the bands that make up the hardcore scene.
