Album Review

Jurny Big
The Biggest of Them All
2003, Uprok Records

This album may have been the culmination of twenty years of pent-up Albert Olguin freestylin‘, but it‘s superfluous after the landmark The Gadfly record LPG put out earlier in ‘03. As one half of LPG (along with his cousin Dax Reynosa), Jurny helped create a great hiphop album, and Biggest of Them All isn‘t really a tremendous followup. It‘s not a bad album by most standards, but even with only one ‘interlude‘ (along with the obligatory ‘Intro‘), it just goes on too long. It‘s one those albums that you listen to while doing something else, and suddenly it‘s over and you think to yourself, "It‘s over already?" Standard beats, average flow (not nearly as good as when he combines with Dax) and middle-of-the-road production combine to make this An Album To Listen To, but not much more.
