Some of our favourite bands are up for this year's CASBY Awards, put on annually by 102.1 The Edge in Toronto. CASBY stands for Canadian Artists Selected By You, and up for awards this fall are Attack In Black, Tokyo Police Club, Saint Alvia Cartel, Finger Eleven, Matt Good, Ill Scarlett and a bunch more. Gotta hand it to P!ATD, though - guitarist Ryan Ross quipped, "Alright, this is going better than last year. We made it through the first one!"

A sad note: CBGB's honcho Hilly Kristal passed away last week at the age of 75 after a battle with cancer. Rest in peace, Mr. Kristal - your influence was immeasurable.
