So over the weekend the editor-in-chief here at the Big Rock D managed to dump his wallet - get ready for this - in the toilet at his girlfriend's parents' house. Yes. In the can. The tank. The john. The porcelain pony. Pathetic. So now I have a new wallet.

Some recommendations for today, this sweltering eighth of August.

Denison Witmer's latest, Are You A Dreamer, is fantastic for listening to on trains.

The Tragically Hip's 2005 concert film That Night In Toronto is a stellar piece of work; 24 songs, four encores, and enough camera angles to keep even the nerds out there happy. Plus, the band's catalogue speaks for itself.

Between the Buried and Me graced Babylon's stage in Ottawa a week ago, and as usual, brought their mastery of melody, aggression and precision with them. They literally weave magic onstage, and you owe it to yourself to see them.
