So frosh week at Algonquin College, as it were, has been not much more than a honeymoon for all the shiny-faced youngsters coming fresh outta high school - this grizzled hardcore vet has been bored stiff most of the week, but it's proven to be an interesting courseload. More details as events warrant. Oh, and my boy Trevor's band The Architects(Ottawa lads all) played in the quad the other day. Apparently the first week is just wall-to-wall shows at that place; Kardinal Offishall, controller.controller and Pilate are playing as I scribe these words. Nice gig.

Bane are taking This Is Hell and Strike Anywhere on tour in October; but before you get excited for that(zero Canadian dates mentioned thus far), Strike A will be here in Ottawa WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK, people!!! September 7th at Babylon(317 Bank downtown). C'mon out and throw down with us. And this is an excuse for me to recount how when This Is Hell were scheduled to play Ottawa last spring, but instead were caught stealing from a Wal-Mart just this side of the Canada/US border within minutes of crossing over, Ignite's bassist referred to them as "our fallen comrades, This Is Jail." I still laugh profusely. [hxc] That story is strictly rumour, by the way. Don't sue.

This is awesome: NBC has picked up Veggie Tales, the immensely popular Christian-made kids' cartoon. I don't care who you are, how old you are, what you happen to believe in - this will slay anyone. Veggie Tales will air Saturday mornings on NBC beginning September 9th. I may just get up reaaaaally early to watch. [cmcentral]
