A couple random bits gleaned from a cursory glance over at punknews: Yellowcard, having recovered from the departure of founding guitarist Ben Harper, who left to focus on his Takeover Records endeavour, have replaced him with former Staring Back axeman Ryan Mendez. The band have streamed, in full, their new album Lights and Sound, over on their myspace page. Go have a listen.

Horse the Band are reaching tons of new audiences. How do we know this? Because their next tour will be with Poison the Well, The Fall of Troy and Criteria. What? That's...let's see...emotional hardcore, quirky math rock, indie goodness and Horse's unique brand of keyboard-crazed metal all on one bill. Awesome!

The almighty Comeback Kid have not only been nominated for some Canadian Music Awards(in the Indie category), but also for the CBC's Galaxie Rising Stars award, selected based on artistic merit rather than album sales by - presumably - people who know they're talking about. Wake the Dead remains the best hardcore record of the last few years.
