It's been a slow week for sweetdisaster; work's been absolute hellishness thanks to losing people in the office to school and such things. If you know anyone in Ottawa who wouldn't mind working midnights typing their little booties off, email us.

It's a given, then, that there's tons of news in the ol' inbox, so we'll get right to it, beginning with some Richmond hardcore!!

Blood & Ink Records down in Virginia has signed Sarasota, FL-based Burden Of A Day, plying a not-exactly-unique blend of hardcore and screamo. You've heard it before, but somehow it never gets old when it's done well. Check 'em out over here, and if you're in Florida, well, so are they:
10.01 Palmetto, FL @ Olympia Theatre
10.14 Bradenton, FL @ The Edge
10.15 Jacksonville, FL @ Murray Hill Theatre
10.22 Lakeland, FL @ First Presbyrterian Church
10.28 Tampa, FL @ The Orpheum
10.29 Miami, FL @ Kaffe Krystal
11.01 Lynchburg, VA @ Elon Ruritan Club
11.02 Dayton, OH @ The Night Owl
11.04 Lafeyette, IN @ Sacred Grounds
11.05 Goshen, IN @ The Post

Ten33 have filled a couple vacant slots in their lineup, with original drummer Zach Nelson returning to the drumstool after a stint in San Diego playing with The Success Story and a second SS member, guitarist Joey Russo, joining the ranks as well. Check out 'Holding On' over at their myspace. Sick tune.

From sphereofhiphop: the new LA Symphony epic Disappear Here drops October 4th(that's next Tuesday, fuzzlings); with guest appearances from Murs and Madlib, along with Evidence(Dilated Peoples) and DJ Rhettmatic(Beat Junkies), all the hype says this'll be the biggest record LA Sym crew's ever made. We'll have our review up here ASAP, but take our word for it: this is hot like ouch.

Oh man, this track is the bomb if you're down with the hippity hop: check out 'That Sound' from Ohmega Watts featuring Lightheaded and The Procussions. I feel like it's 1994 listening to this!

Paste Mag is putting on the Paste Rock 'N Reel even in Decatur, GA at the East Decatur Station. Performers include Low, Over The Rhine, Denison Witmer and more, as well as short-film screenings and the creators of homestarrunner on hand for a Q&A. I'd totally go to this! Check the website for details.

Smallman Recs has checked in via email - finally. So, Smallman, where you been hiding in Winnipeg all summer? "To say the least, it was a busy couple of months. Culminating wonderfully in a wrestle off with some of the more distasteful elements from G7 Welcoming Committee. When we settled back to our respective corners (re: neighboring residents informing the local authorities of an indie label turf war happening), we realised it was time to get back to work." Awesome, then. So what's up in the news? Okay then. Smallman's signed a new band(solid indie act by the name of Sylvie, kinda reminds me of Minus The Bear), financed videos for The Reason and Choke(hit up MuchMusic and demand they play them), and all their bands are on tour, so hit up the website. That's that.

A sweetdisaster supporter - hi Kayla - recently attended a couple shows, namely Green Day and the Rufio/Moneen/Yellowcard tour - and took a bunch of pictures!! Check out what a phone cam could do to enhance your concertgoing experience over here! Hint: the ones toward the end(22 pics overall) that look like a huge venue are in fact the Corel Centre Green Day affair - don't ask about the picture of the dog.
