Pluto Records has done gone and done it again, signing another band, The Deadly, straight outta the Illadelph, as The Roots refer to their hometown, or 'Philadelphia' for the rest of us. The Deadly feature ex-Turmoil guys, which is large, and they will tear your face off with The Wolves Are Here Again, their Pluto full-length debut. It's already done, and it'll be in stores everywhere March 29th. Worrrrd.

Essential Listening for today, January 28th, is a Sub Pop band. Now, we've rarely devoted coverage to Sub Pop bands outside the occasional mention of The Shins(what a great band), but As Tall As Lions' debut Lafcadio(2004) reminded me today of what Further Seems Forever might sound like if they didn't write concise songs so much as drawn-out, emo-sounding numbers - and had former Big Wreck singer Ian Thornley up front. As Tall As Lions: I like.

It's come to our attention that there is now, from the publishers of Guitar World magazine, an offshoot called Christian Guitarist + Bassist. I paged through Issue One last week and encountered interviews with MercyMe, Skillet and other top guns in the Christian contemporary scene. Decent-looking magazine, I suppose, but isn't it a little superfluous?

If you're hitting up the Norma Jean/Atreyu/Unearth tour at any point along the way, check this out to hear the openers, Scars of Tomorrow. Fun band. Good breakdowns.
