This happened a couple weeks ago, but since we don't keep the pulse of the business side of music as much as the rock and roll, we weren't aware of it til now: Barry Landis, head of Word Entertainment's Word Label Group(complicated, yes) was canned amid restructuring of the company. Some guy Jim Van Hook is now in charge there(he's been around a loooooong time), and no word yet on Landis' replacement. This is the guy who shepherded the careers of Sixpence None The Richer, Chevelle L.A. Symphony, among others, and we all know what happened to the first two. Another good man bites the dust. A quick product placement: let's hear it for Good Sense Trail Mix!!

If you were one of the relatively few who were into Calibretto(formerly Calibretto 13 before legal wrangling dropped the latter half), back in the day on Tooth & Nail Recs, head over here for a massive collection of mp3s featuring outtakes, unreleased material, B-sides, etc etc etc ET CETERA. The band is over - the party lives on. And for a blast from the past, check out an interview I did with Calibretto(if it's still up) here. [decapolis

A quick hit: Pluto Records rising stars Please Mr. Grave Digger remind me of Squad 5-0 fronted by the unhinged vocals of Keith Buckley(Every Time I Die). So rad.

Agreed! Ha.
