Our initial contest's beeg weeeener is one Richard Weitzel of Ottawa. He's going to see Anberlin opening up for The Juliana Theory tomorrow night(April 28th) at Babylon; as well, he's getting his paws on a copy of Anberlin's debut album Blueprints For the Black Market. Congrats, ol' chappie. The show will be large, and it's not sold out as of press time, so get yer rear in gear, I say.

Jamal 'Shyne' Barrows, a jailed rapper who had a part in the Puffy Combs shooting incident a couple years back, is expected to sign a three-million-dollar deal with Island Def Jam. That's right, kids: to make a hit rap record, all you need do is be a gun-toting thug and be in prison. Sad. [virtualfrequency]

Kind of in anticipation of Grits' appearance here in Ottawa this August, check out this interview with their former turntablist DJ Form. I guess he won't be here with Grits, which kinda sucks, but hey. It's a good read anyway.

Essential listening for April 27th: The Movielife's This Time Next Year. Rest in peace.

(They broke up last year, if you hadn't already made the connection.)
