I had some time kill yesterday evening before the rock show(which The Fully Downowned, but not by much after Brampton, ON's Wheels On The Bus absolutely destroyed the stage at Cafe Dekcuf), so I hit HMV in the Rideau Centre to see what was on the listening posts. The soundtrack to The Punisher was, and I slapped the headphones on to see what was up in the latest in nu-metal. Songs by Chevelle and Finger Eleven were worth hearing, and not much else; Hatebreed's track toward the end, 'Bound To Violence' I think it was called, was a relief - true-blue hardcore brutality after so much posing.

Some hiphop/Ottawa news: the Black Eyed Peas show May 2nd is officially sold out; so tough luck if you wanted to go. However, to assuage your devastation, pick up a ticket pronto to catch The Pharcyde April 28th. Toronto crew Oddities are opening that show, and I won't be there due to a scheduling conflict(see the giant splash ad featured in this space), but you should go if you're not otherwise engaged.

Saskatchewan's Despistado(Jade Tree Records) received a favourable review in X Press this week of their debut EP The Emergency Response. I've never heard them, but there are precious few bands worth hearing from the Canadian prairies, and this is apparently one of them.

Happy Easter. Rejoice!
